How can you drastically increase the number of powersports shoppers looking at your new unit inventory without spending more money? Troy Hunemuller, a powersports dealership sales specialist, certainly has found one way to do it.

Hunemuller posts used and new major unit inventory on a website for DR. PowerSports, a multibrand metric dealership in eastern Iowa that features Can-Am, Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo. Earlier this summer the dealership converted their marketing, sales and accounting systems to DX1, the industry’s only complete management platform.

Before the transition, Hunemuller would type the unit details into a dealer management system and then the very same information into a second system, for the store’s website. The data input into the dealer management system wasn’t especially smooth as it required typing data into multiple windows. “The entire process for posting one unit into two systems took at least 10 minutes,” Hunemuller said.

Today, Hunemuller is typing the unit data into one database in DX1 and that data is being used for various accounting, sales and inventory functions in the management platform. Hunemuller says the initial data input is easier because he only has to access one window to complete the unit description.

How much time does it take him to post one unit in DX1?

“Two minutes at the most and that’s if I’m interrupted. It’s so easy.”

The time savings – at least 8 minutes per unit – means the new units that DR. PowerSports has in stock are, for the very first time, posted on their website. Previously Hunemuller would only post used units on their website simply because he didn’t have the time to post in-stock new units online.

By using DX1, DR. PowerSports is now showing off its new in-stock inventory to thousands of consumers on its website, on its Facebook site and on Craigslist. At last count, their DX1 website had 206 in-stock new units displayed and another 41 used units shown.

If Hunemuller would’ve tried to post those 247 units using the dealership’s old system, how much time would it have taken him vs. what he’s experiencing now in DX1?

At least an additional 1,976 minutes, or close to 33 hours.
